What is SEO (Search Engine Optimization)?

SEO is one of the most important terms used in the field of Internet Marketing. On average you will find more than 700 million results if you try to find out what is “SEO”?

What is SEO?

Q. What Does SEO Mean?

SEO means Search Engine Optimization.

Q. What is the purpose of SEO?

Don’t get confused with the term Search Engine Optimization. SEO Does not mean that you are going to optimize the search engines like Google, Bing, Yahoo or any other. Instead, SEO is a practice in which you optimize your own website or content whether it is a video, text or an image, so that you can rank your website or content on the first page of your preferred search engine.

Q. What can SEO do for your business?

This is a question most frequently asked by the newcomers. The answer is not as simple as you think it would be. The first assumption from SEO is that it generates revenue. So more revenue means more profit and ultimately growth is the real goal but that is not the case. SEO only helps a website to rank up in the google search results where the chances of more visitors become higher but then there is another problem ahead “Bounce Rate”.

Q. What are the Key Factors of SEO?

a. Rate of Traffic: Most of the time, especially for new companies, the most important thing is exposure. More exposure comes with more customer outreach and sometimes a successful marketing strategy is dependent on the increased number of visitors. SEO helps in achieving that result and bring more views to the content.

b. Bounce Rate: The ultimate result a company want is sales. More the sales, happier the client. In most of the cases number of visitors visiting a website does not generate traffic. There could be multiple reasons for that, but if the customers do not find your content interesting or relevant then they will leave and as you already know, marketing is all about growth and without sales there is no growth.

c. Organic Traffic: It is a well-known fact that to promote a product/service there are two main methods:

Paid Advertisements

i: Invest in Advertisements

ii. Word of Mouth/Referrals

These two methods are applicable in both digital and print marketing channels. Similarly Google, Bing or other similar Search Engines allows you to purchase advertisement to promote your business and rank on top of google search but SEO allows you to rank up without any direct investment. In other words, SEO is less expensive and more effective.

Q. How SEO Works

You might think of a search engine as a website you visit to type a question or find something or someone, into a search box and the search engine weather that is Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo or whatever search engine you’re using replies with a long list of webpages that could potentially be the source of information you were looking for.

And you are abdolutely right but But there are many factors that work behind those long never ending lists of websites which you should consider.

This is how it works: Google (or any search engine you’re using) has a crawler that goes out and gathers information from websites all around the world in search of the content they can find on the Internet. The crawlers bring all those 1s and 0s back to the search engine to build an index. That index is then fed through an algorithm that tries to match all Products that data with your query.

There are a lot of factors that go into a search engine’s algorithm, and here’s how a group of experts ranked their importance:

Google Ranking Factor

Optimization can take many forms. It’s everything from making sure the title tags and meta descriptions are both informative and the right length to pointing internal links at pages you’re proud of.
